Frontier Pharma Ophthalmology Treatment Pipeline Review H2 2016

PUNE, INDIA, November 15, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ — The visual system, including the eye and its surrounding structures, can be affected by a number of pathological conditions. Ophthalmology encompasses a diverse range of indications affecting this system. Key diseases within this therapy area include glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy and dry eye syndrome.

While treatments for dry eye syndrome are generally able to control its symptoms in the majority of patients, the other four diseases are progressive, chronic, incurable and can lead to visual impairment and even blindness if not adequately treated. Treatment is aimed at managing the disease, in order to reduce the severity of symptoms and to slow progression, rather than being curative.

Scientific advancements over recent decades have revealed a broad range of novel potential molecular targets, enabling progress in a previously stagnant field. This is reflected by the high number of products in development, with 782 pipeline products currently in the ophthalmology therapy area pipeline.

Moreover, there are a total of 158 first-in-class pipeline products in development for ophthalmology indications, representing 36% of the 438 pipeline products for which there is a disclosed molecular target. They appear generally promising in terms of safety and efficacy, and appear to have significant potential to strengthen the treatment landscape for key ophthalmological conditions – as well as representing promising commercial opportunities.

Many first-in-class products in the current ophthalmology pipeline have previously been involved in licensing and co-development deals. This indicates a strong degree of strategic consolidation uptake for first-in-class products in ophthalmology, and a willingness on the part of companies to invest in innovative products that show promise in both preclinical and clinical trials.

Scope
– Analysis of innovation in the ophthalmology markets in the context of the overall pipeline and current market landscape. Also includes analysis of the deals landscape surrounding first-in-class products in ophthalmology, and highlights opportunities for in-licensing. Key indications covered in detail include glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema.
– A brief introduction to ophthalmology, including symptoms, pathophysiology, and an overview of pharmacotherapy for the key diseases.
– The changing molecular target landscape between the market and the pipeline, and particular focal points of innovation in the pipeline.
– Comprehensive review of the pipeline for first-in-class therapies, analyzed on the basis of stage of development, molecule type and molecular target.
– Identification and assessment of first-in-class molecular targets, with a particular focus on early-stage programs for which clinical utility has yet to be evaluated, as well as literature reviews on novel molecular targets.
– Assessment of the licensing and co-development deal landscape for ophthalmology therapies, and benchmarking of deals involving first-in-class versus non-first-in-class-products.

Reasons to buy
– Understand the current clinical and commercial landscape, including a comprehensive study of disease pathogenesis, diagnosis, prognosis and the available treatment options available at each stage of diagnosis.
– Visualize the composition of the ophthalmology market in terms of dominant molecule types and targets, highlighting what the current unmet needs are and how they can be addressed. This knowledge allows a competitive understanding of the gaps in the current market.
– Analyze the ophthalmology pipeline, stratified by indication, stage of development, molecule type and molecular target.
– Assess the therapeutic potential of first-in-class targets. Using a proprietary matrix, first-in-class products have been assessed and ranked according to clinical potential. Promising early-stage targets have been further reviewed in greater detail.
– Identify commercial opportunities in the ophthalmology deals landscape by analyzing trends in licensing and co-development deals, and producing a list of ophthalmology therapies that are not yet involved in deals and may be potential investment opportunities.

New Documentary Offers Hope for Those Suffering with Invisible Illness

Stories of People Living with Chronic Pain, Diabetes, Lyme Disease, and Other "Invisible" Ailments

People who live with invisible illnesses feel isolated and alone

— Tasra Dawson, Director

SEATTLE, WA, UNITED STATES, November 14, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ — The boutique video production agency Dare Dreamer Media has begun production on their documentary “Invisible Illness”: stories of people who suffer from ailments in which its symptoms and effects are not outwardly visible, yet they still have a profound impact on the lives of those who live with it. A new set of trailers has just been released highlighting two of the stories.

In October 2011, Tasra Dawson, the film’s Director, a former Designer and Trainer at Apple Inc, was hit by a car while walking in a crosswalk. The impact threw her six feet in the air and led to a cascade of chronic and life-threatening health challenges. “For over a year, I was sent from one doctor to the next, telling them about my inability to walk and the constant pain that kept me bedridden. I was told everything from 'it’s a female problem' to 'it’s all in my head'; and I was given a ridiculous amount of drugs to shut me up.” Tasra reports. “I also had to fight for months to get a second opinion on MRI results. Once I finally did, they found a life-threatening aortic dissection. I’m lucky to be alive.”

The hits kept coming. As a result of steroid patches administered without her knowledge, Tasra developed diabetes as well as SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth, a hard-to-treat condition with IBS-like symptoms), and the accident triggered PTSD. Yet, despite all these ailments, when she is able to leave the home, no one would know she was living with debilitating chronic illnesses.

“People who live with invisible illnesses feel isolated and alone,” Tasra’s husband and the film’s director of photography, Ron commented. “Naturally their loved ones know and help care for them; but when dealing with the general population, there’s a disconnect. As one interviewee in the film shares, it becomes exhausting having to always explain your situation. Sometimes you wish you had visible signs just so people could see and know.”

“This was a film that I desperately needed during the first few years after my accident,” Tasra continues. “To know that I was not alone, that it was okay and even necessary to challenge my doctors and fight for better answers, as well as exploring alternative forms of medicine and healing. We plan to address all of this in the film.”

Principal photography is still underway, but the filmmakers have put out an official trailer and accompanying video story vignette. Ron added, “We have a lot of footage that won’t make the final film, but we’ll use it to provide additional stories and resources online.”

You can learn more about the film, watch the trailers, and get involved at InvisibleIllnessFilm.com.

Pharmacy Pledge calls on pharmacists to commit to team training

Campaign brings together pharmacy stakeholders and industry to raise standards and customer experience

‘‘As an owner of an independent community pharmacy, you are juggling a lot of roles while trying to keep the business profitable.but without it you sacrifice the customer experience and revenue,’’

— Sunil Kochhar

LONDON, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, November 15, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ — A new awareness campaign designed to equip pharmacy managers with the tools to support their team’s learning and development has been launched with the aim of raising standards and improving the customer experience in pharmacy.
Pharmacy managers are being encouraged to sign the online Pharmacy Pledge (www.pharmacypledge.org) and unlock free tools and training along the way, in preparation for Training Awareness Week 2017 (March 6-10).
Pharmacy Pledge is the brainwave of Sunil Kochhar, founder of pharmacyTALK.co.uk, who has teamed up with learning and technology company Mediapharm to launch the initiative. As part of his other roles as Kent LPC Vice Chair, PSNC local representative, and an independent contractor, Sunil recognised the role of support staff training and development in raising standards and garnering the trust of the public but was aware that many community pharmacy managers lacked the tools and resources to help them do that.
‘‘As an owner of an independent community pharmacy, you are juggling a lot of roles while trying to keep the business profitable. You don’t have the luxury of a learning and development (L&D) department so training becomes ad hoc and a distraction, but without it you sacrifice the customer experience and revenue,’’ explains Sunil.
The campaign has also involved the key pharmacy training providers and OTC companies with the aim of creating a dedicated network that will help pharmacists succeed in their pledge. Mediapharm co-founder Paul Lowndes explained: ‘‘We know a lot of valuable resources are already out there but the pharmacists we speak to don’t know where to start. Our aim with the campaign is to turn training into profit by getting the right content to the right person at the right time.’’
The Pledge to Principle 6 – a reference to the GPhC’s 5 principles – will revolve around five call to actions designed to give managers a structured framework to support staff L&D. Tools will be offered to support these actions and bring training in line with business objectives. Tools will include time management sheets, training matrix templates and category breakdown toolkits.

Royal Wood Floors Gives Causes & Cures for Home Owners Hard Wood Floor Problems

Royal Wood Floors covers hard wood floor problems and cures so that Milwaukee home owners can keep beautiful hard wood floors from becoming damaged – Series 5

MILWAUKEE, WI, UNITED STATES, November 14, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ — Royal Wood Floors specializes in hard wood floor refinishing and installing hard wood floors in the greater Milwaukee area and has been highly successful for over 15 years. “After servicing or installing a new floor, we make a point of providing the following as a special series of tips for every customer in order to ensure that their floors are protected and provide that stunning hard wood beauty for as long as possible”, says Keith Allman who owns Royal Wood Floors. He continues to say, “there are a variety of problems that can affect the beauty and life of hard wood floors and once these are isolated they can be handled properly so that the hard wood lasts for years the way it should”. Different types of hard wood floor damage can often times be dealt with through hard wood floor restorations. It is important that residents be educated on it. In this article we want to discuss what is called Gaps, Abnormalities & Greenhouse Effect to better educate the homeowners that want to keep their hard wood floors beautiful and long lasting.

Gaps & Abnormalities
These are gaps in a hard wood floor that remain with seasonal change. If some boards appear glued together by the finish then there may be a defect in side-bonding. This can also be caused by Edge Crush or Compression Set from prior exposure to extreme moisture. Other causes can be from hot spots in the sub-floor such as poorly insulated heating ducts, hot water plumbing lines, radiant heating systems, register openings and appliance motors. “Debris between the wood floor boards, improper nailing or even nail position can also cause gaps in the floor boards,” says Allman. Other causes can be cracked tongues. Flooring installed with an excessive high moisture content or over a sub-floor with excessive high moisture as well as flooring that has not been installed tightly enough to begin with can all contribute to resulting gaps between boards. Foundation settlements can also contribute to the creation of gaps or improper sub-floor materials that will not hold nails are also causes for this type of issue. For floors that have been glued down, early foot traffic, incorrect adhesive transferred or used, the wrong amount of flash time for the adhesive or not using a roller when recommended all cause gaps.

The cure for this problem is to remove the cause and then restore normal humidity levels. After the floor has stabilized, use filler in gaps that are small enough to be filled and then re-coat the floor. For large gaps use a sliver (Dutchman) or wider board to eliminate the gap.

Greenhouse Effect
This is when hard wood floors shrink and swell due to limited air movement and inconsistent humidity levels. The cause of this is that the space is closed up with no air control or air exchange. Sunlight through windows can generate heat, creating condensation and abnormal humidity levels. Noticeable shrinkage or expansion will occur when an attempt is made to stabilize the atmosphere. The cure for this is that after the environment becomes stable, you can follow the cures that also fix cupping floors, buckling or gaps. Controlling the atmosphere during and after the installation is critical to avoid issues caused by the greenhouse effect.

Law Firm Marketing: How To Attract And Manage High Net Worth Divorces

A top divorce attorneys talks about how her firm handles complex high net worth divorces.

These kinds of divorces frequently involve people with high salaries, family owned businesses and significant real estate holdings. They can also involve celebrities and athletes.

— Jay P. Granat, Ph.D.

RIVER EDGE, NJ, UNITED STATES, November 16, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ — Some prestigious family law firms focus on complex high net worth divorce matters.

These kinds of divorces frequently involve people with high salaries, family owned businesses, significant real estate holdings and older couples who have accumulated wealth after having worked for many years.

They can also involve celebrities and highly paid athletes.

To learn more about how one prominent attorney attracts and manages these kinds of cases, Jay P. Granat, Ph.D., a psychotherapist, licensed marriage and family therapist and founder of www.HighNetWorthDivorces.com, interviewed one of the top matrimonial lawyers in one of the top law firms in North Carolina.

www.HighNetWorthDivorces.com is a directory and referral service in which only one firm is chosen for each county in America. Currently, fifty seven firms from around the country have joined this site and have claimed their exclusive position in their county.

According to Alice Stubbs, Esq. a former family court judge and a partner in Tharrington, Smith, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, she is able to attract high net worth cases because of her years of experience on the bench, her knowledge of family and her familiarity with the top lawyers throughout the state of North Carolina.

Watching top attorneys in court apparently taught her a lot about the practice of family law.

“I was able to watch the finest lawyers in action in my courtroom, notes Ms. Stubbs.

Ms. Stubbs also was then able to select and join one of the finest law firms in North Carolina when she left the bench.

Ms. Stubbs has a very impressive bio:

Alice C. Stubbs is a partner in the firm. She joined Tharrington, Smith in 2006 after having served for eight years as a Wake County District Court judge. First appointed in 1997 by Governor Jim Hunt, she was elected to the judgeship in 1998 and 2002. During her time on the bench, Ms. Stubbs presided primarily in domestic court. She was certified as a juvenile judge in 2001 and was designated and presided as a family court judge from 2002 until she came to Tharrington Smith.
Ms. Stubbs is a native of New Bern. She graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts in 1985, from Davidson College in 1989 with a major in economics, attended University College in London, and received her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992. She then clerked for Chief Judge James B. Wolfe, Jr., of the United States Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of North Carolina, followed by a litigation practice with Stubbs and Perdue, P.A.
Ms. Stubbs is an American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Fellow, is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law, a Certified Family Financial Mediator. Long active in bar association activities, Ms. Stubbs has served on the Board of Directors for the Wake County Bar Association. Beginning in 2008, she served for several years as the vice chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee for the Wake County Bar Association. She has continued to serve as the course planner for the annual family law Continuing Legal Education program in Raleigh since 2008. She is a member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. She has served on the Litigation Section Council of the North Carolina Bar Association, the Board of Directors of Meredith College’s Paralegal School, the Board of Directors of the Carolina Ballet, the Women’s Executive Mentoring Coalition, and the Board of Directors of the Joel Lane Museum House in Raleigh. In 2015 she was appointed to serve as Chair of the Grievance Committee for the North Carolina Tennis Association. She was appointed by Governor Mike Easley to serve on the North Carolina Ethics Commission, effective October 2006. She was reappointed to the Ethics Commission by Governor Perdue in January of 2010.
Ms. Stubbs has been named for years by Business North Carolina magazine as one of the “Legal Elite” family law attorneys in North Carolina, has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers since 2010, and has an AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell.
Managing High Net Worth Cases
High net worth divorces can sometimes require a great deal of research and documentation.
Assets need to be evaluated properly and property needs to be distributed in accordance with the law.
Ms. Stubbs feels that her firm has a fantastic team of lawyers as well as paralegals.
In addition, Attorney Stubbs has access to top expert witnesses who she can utilize when needed.
“Firms without these kinds of resources can have a hard time managing the complex issues which often accompany a high net worth divorce, says Ms. Stubbs.
Attorneys who want to comment on attracting and managing high net worth divorces and would like to have their exclusive presence on the site, should reach out to Dr. Granat at 201 647-9191 or at DrJayGranat@HighNetWorthDivorces.com.

MESA, ARIZONA, MARICOPA, November 15, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ — Phoenix, Arizona (November 15, 2016) – Advocates for Individuals with Disabilities – Foundation ("AID.org")

“Finally, after 26 years of ADA disabilities organizations failing and cowering from fear of being attacked, harassed, pressured and intimidated by salacious media and fear of having their funding cut off by business who continue to willfully and openly violate the civil rights of individuals with disabilities, a fearless and powerful civil rights champion has taken up the fight, and oh what a fight it is…,” said Mr. Callan AID’s de facto representative.

Mr. Callan explained, “Disability organizations who largely rely on donations from business, (on average 95% off which are non-ADA compliant) are extremely fearful of losing their funding. If they lose their funding they must close and will no longer be able to help the disabled community. The problem herein lies; do they tolerate and keep receiving money from violating business by turning a “blind eye” to ADA violations? Or do they risk it all by taking a stand for the civil rights of individuals with disabilities and lose their funding? Unfortunately, because of the false and misleading media and their lies claiming that ‘AID is lining its pockets’ as well as pressure from their donors they have no choice but to publicly condemn AID’s effective actions, while secretly admiring and being grateful that finally an organization strong enough and self-funded is now taking on the fight to make a positive change for all individuals with disabilities.”

After 26 years, many with disabilities are complacent and accustom to being discriminated against, just like back in the 60’s before a few activists stood up and took a stand. Many fight for civil rights not only got beat up, mentally abused and even killed… “That is why AID protects its association members by filing its civil rights enforcement actions against ADA violation business in its own name, instead of the member’s names. In the few times that AID’s members have become known to the public they have quickly and viciously been attached, harassed, defamed and intimidated by unscrupulous media as well as subjected to other 3rd party threats and pressures,” proclaimed Mr. Callan.

With approx. 95% of public accommodation business being non-ADA compliant AID had no other option but to utilize commercial office locations that were not ADA compliant in the beginning. While one of AID’s landlords agreed, and became voluntarily compliant in a timely manner one landlord refused and AID was forced to sue them… Dave Biscobing, ABC 15’s pounced on the fact that AID’s landlords locations were not yet ADA compliant and aired several very negative reports bashing AID as a “bad organization” for their landlords not being compliant regardless of AID’s efforts un-bias and aggressive efforts to also cause them to become ADA compliant.

While AID does not have a “magic wand” to waive and instantly cause voluntary ADA compliance, it does have a “big effective stick” in the form of filing ADA enforcement lawsuits against those violators who ignored AID’s 40,000 warning letters. That is unless Arizona’s Attorney General Mark Brnovich (“AG”) is successful in causing all of AID’s 1,289 ADA related civil rights cases to be dismissed WITHOUT requiring even one of the discriminating ADA violators to correct their violations. “The actions of the AG are shocking and revealing of just how far he is apparently willing go to support the law breaking business owners who continue to violate the ADA and discriminate against individuals with disabilities. This is one more black mark for Arizona’s history of support of discrimination and civil rights violation. Brnovich, like Joe Arpaio, has become synonymous with discrimination”, stated Mr. Callan.

To date, AID has spent over $1.7 Million to file nearly 2,000 ADA enforcement lawsuits in the courts and over 9,000 documented ADA civil right discrimination complaints with the Arizona Attorney General’s office. No other private entity in history has caused so many businesses to become ADA compliant both through litigation and through voluntary compliance because of fear of potential litigation, and now the AG is doing his best to stop AID’s ADA compliance efforts.

The key to ADA compliance, especially voluntarily compliance, just like preventing speeding, theft, drunk driving and murder, is the fear of penalties, repercussions and financial expense. The AG is fighting to eliminate fears of any potential penalties or repercussions and to pay expenses for business who are not even willing to pay $25 to put up proper signage in order to comply with the ADA. “Why would they when no government agency cares and individuals with disabilities are afraid to complain for fear of being told that they are banned from that store or location?” asked Mr. Callan rhetorically.

If the AG gets his way, violating the ADA will even be less risky and penalty free. The AG is supporting a law to allow ADA violators 120 days from the time that someone complains to fix their violations without any potential penalty, even though the law has been in place for over 26 years. AID knows this is a pointless and discriminatory requirement; it mailed out over 40,000 notices and found tens of thousands of businesses still didn’t take action. “If this law is approved, it would be the same as requiring the police to visit a criminal and tell them they have 120 days to stop committing the crime or they’d risk getting in trouble. There’s no incentive to comply. Only businesses that already care about individuals with disabilities, apparently the less than 3%, would be compliant because they do it voluntarily.” Stated Mr. Callan.

“It is unsettling and common that AID hears about individuals with disabilities being denied equal use of facilities and bathrooms and even threatened, intimidated or banned from the location when they complain about ADA violations. It is extremely sad when we at AID hear of injuries and even death that have been caused by an ADA violation. But this is Arizona, the Wild West, and the AG, who is by law to act as the “Sheriff” to enforce the ADA laws, has apparently decided, on his own, that the civil rights of those with disabilities do not matter… and if you are willing to fight for and protect their rights the “Sheriff” will come after you to stop you,” stated Mr. Callan.

AID’s altruistic intentions remain pure and highly effective… To date AID’s enforcement efforts have cost over $1.7 Million, with nearly $800,000 just in court fees. While ALL of AID’s compliance settlement agreements require timely ADA violation correction guarantees, some settlement agreements also include a negotiated cash component averaging approximately $3,900 per case to cover legal, filing, operational and further compliance actions, etc. Never $10,000 per case and far less than media sources falsely portray. The reason it is necessary for AID to receive these proceeds as part of settlement (approx. $1.2M to date) is to subsidize the costs of identifying, documenting, bringing and managing widespread ADA enforcement actions. Doing so is very costly, and AID does not use any tax funds to investigate and enforce ADA laws. AID’s altruistic efforts and results are made abundantly clear by the fact that AID always has, currently is and anticipates it continue to operate at a substantial loss reaching many hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is definitely clear that AID is NOT “enriching itself”, “lining its pockets” or “just in it for the money” because AID has not and does not expect to make a profit. As the math shows… AID’s expenses of $1,700,000 minus $1,200,000 collected settlement funds equals a current deficit of over $500,000.

AID is pleased with the growing understanding and support of its mission by not only its growing membership base, but also those who support AID’s efforts privately or secretly because of their fears of repercussions or retaliation from those without disabilities. AID is not fearful of such retaliation and will not succumb to negative pressures.

About Advocates for Individuals with Disabilities – Foundation

AID has filed over 9,000 documented ADA civil right discrimination cases with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office and nearly 2,000 additional cases in court. AID has spent over $1,700,000 in bringing these 11,000 plus ADA cases in its Arizona efforts to bring about ADA compliance, and has always operated at deficit.

Advocates for Individuals with Disabilities Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit company was formed in January 2016 to receive contributions/distributions/benefits/services from the operating entity Advocates for Individuals with Disabilities, LLC. These entities often collectively or individually referred to as AID or AID.org by many, operate as Civil Rights Champions with combined goals of improving the lives of individuals with disabilities through charitable gifts, opportunities and the removal of equal access barriers for the over 43 million Americans who live with disabilities caused by one or more conditions.

AID.org sends warning notices to businesses and then acts as private attorneys general to ensure ADA compliance. AID.org’s focus is on the most readily visible exterior equal access barriers which Federal, State and Attorney Generals have failed to enforce over the last 26 years. AID.org feels that these violations are a clear indicator of interior ADA violations, which we hope the violating business voluntarily correct.

“For the ADA to yield its promise of equal access for the disabled, it may indeed be necessary and desirable for committed individuals to bring serial litigation advancing the time when public accommodations will be compliant with the ADA.” AID.org is committed to bring serial litigation and is primarily self-funded though litigation settlement agreements and private funding.
